A 2-Day Workshop

with Katie Gibbs & Matt Fishman

Wild Glaze!

Utilizing Local Materials for Cone 10 Glazes

Saturday & Sunday, May 18–19, 10am–5pm

with glaze test discussion on Sunday, May 26, 2–4pm

In this two-day workshop, Wild Glaze (& Clay) explorers Matt Fishman and Katie Gibbs will teach you how to find, process, test, and use locally-sourced materials for making Cone 10 glazes. Rocks, clays, wood ash, and more will be discussed, and participants will forage rocks from the nearby area. Did you know that limestone, granite and iron-rich rocks work well as glaze materials? Matt and Katie will show you how to process the materials your collect or bring to the workshop from beginning to end. Realize that to start, there are no right or wrong ways to use materials, only exploration and experimentation to be learned and shared. Bring in your own materials (rocks from your yard, wood ash from your fireplace) and learn how to incorporate them into existing work or create new surfaces from the ground up. Celebrate your local geology and make pots with locally-sourced materials! Follow-up discussion of glaze tests will be in Sunday, May 26, 2–4pm.
