Notes From The Suggestion Box

Staff Comments:
This is a great suggestion. We currently post them on the bulletin board between the bathrooms, but we are happy to email them to both our Members and Students. Thank you for the suggestion.

Staff Comments:
We neglected to post them this round. We will post this in the appropriate spaces and continue to do so in the New Year.

We are sorry for your experience in tracking your work at The Potters’ Studio. We pride ourselves in bisquing and glazing thousands of pieces a month. Unfortunately, our small group of dedicated Studio Technicians are not actually tracking your work. The tracking of work is left to the Member/Student who created it. It is important for the ceramicist to track and move their own pieces through the creative process. In the event that something went wrong in the firing process, the piece will often end up on the Hospital rack with a note as to why it couldn’t be processed. This rack is in front of the lift between the racks of finished work and the glazing area.

Staff Comments:
We have looked and tried to find a clear glaze that will make all happy, but unfortunately, we have yet to find one that is better than the one we offer. We are currently severely challenged with changing materials which is creating new recipes that will work to ensure our glazes will look the same in the upcoming material shortages and will be happy to continue to test recipes sometime in the upcoming year.

Staff Comments:
This is difficult to accomplish. We only have space for 17 wheels in the flex space for classes that are completely full, and only one standing wheel that several people use.in the main studio. Since you haven’t signed your note, we can’t really know how to solve your problem. A good start would be to talk to your Instructor to see how to best accommodate your needs.

Staff Comments:
Ah, the area we like to call The Wild West.

During the holiday season we are really busy and there is some strain on our resources. We don’t really have space for multiple calendars and are not sure it would solve the problem. We have cleaned up the racks of standing materials and will look into better signage for the racks themselves. We also have 3 metro racks outside in the clay recycling area that Members can bring in to help with firing their own kilns. Ask a Studio Technician where they can be found.
