Hand-building: The Functional Animal

325.00

Instructor: Anna Vaughan

Mondays 10am1pm

Animals have been replicated in art since the cave paintings at Lascaux; ceramics too has historical roots in this tradition. Many contemporary artists use animals as muses for creating unique and beautiful functional forms. In this class students will learn to create bowls, jars, vases and lidded forms that incorporate the body gestures and expressions of animals. Students will receive hands-on demonstrations working with clay and visual presentations of this rich and varied art form.  All skill levels welcome.
