Instructor: Pamela Thomas
Mondays 10am - 1pm
This class focuses on the tile format for functional, sculptural, decorative and creative expression. We will begin with the basics of making small to large flat ceramic tiles and cover many of the special concerns in making a successful tile project. Using a variety of forming methods we will explore the flat surface in ways quick and immediate to slow and deliberate. This class will also survey a variety decorating techniques that can be applied to clay work both on and off the wall. Topics will include tessellation, patterning, bas- relief carving, borders and more. Emphasis on electric mid-range firing; small batch brush-able glazing methods will be covered. Something for everyone- advanced or novice!
10am - 1pm
The Tile Making class is only happening once. 6/11 -- 7/30. Spots are limited.
Next session will resume the Rotating Focuses Handbuilding class on 8/6. The waitlist is for that class.
A couple of weeks before the end of a class, the current students are given the chance to re-register. The number of students opting out determines how many spots become available to new students (typically on the waiting list).
If you apply to multiple waitlists (two max), you will be contacted for each.
